One day, Sydney notices that her worm is missing from the jar, replaced by a lump of cotton. She frantically searches for the worm throughout the house, calling for it, but can't find it. 3.Sydney cries to her older brother, John, telling him that her worm is gone. John reassures her, explaining that the worm has turned into a cocoon, and soon it will become a butterfly. 4. Sydney is relieved, and as they watch, the cocoon moves, and a beautiful butterfly emerges. John explains that the butterfly should be set free, and although Sydney is reluctant, she agrees and watches as the butterfly flies away.

Me and Dad found this on the beach. “It’s lucky.” Page 21-22 I put everything inside the box and close the lid. “Now I have a box of love.” Page 23-24 The next morning, I open the box. I take out Dad’s jersey and hold it tight. I feel connected to him. Page 25-26 Then I look at the rock and remember our trip to the beach. I smile. Mom hugs me. “Dad isn’t here, but love never leaves.” I close the box and hold it close. Dad will always be with me.

On their way home, they meet different animals, all of which give advice on how to care for the bird. (mostly crazy ideas. . like mix lemonade, skittles, and chocolate and rub it on his beak). Hunter and his daddy learn that all the bird really needs is food, water, shelter, and love. Eventually, the bird is healed and they release him. While they are tending to the bird, Hunter and his daddy share thoughts about the importance of kindness and empathy. (Hunter names the bird "Mickey" in honor of his grandpa's favorite baseball player - Mickey Mantle. They found the bird in centerfield and Mickey Mantle played centerfield)
