Setting is a Unitarian Universalist Sunday school classroom. The teacher is Ms. Dennis. One day Ms. Dennis tells them they are going to sing a song in the Winter concert, so they need to choose a song. Taylor suggests "the Little Drummer Boy" Alex does not like this idea because Alex is Jewish. Alex suggests singing "Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel". But Avery, who is not religious does not want to sing a song about Hannukah. River suggests they sing "Rudolf the red nosed reindeer". the children are excited except Mako. Mako says she does not know that song because she does not celebrate Christmas. The other children ask Mako to just sit out. Ms. Dennis tells them no, they are not going to exclude someone. Ms. Dennis tells the children find something they have in common, and asks them to bring an item that symbolizes the holidays they celebrate. When the children return, Avery brought a red, a blue, and a gold candle Avery's family celebrates Human Light, the candles represent, reason, compassion & hope. Jordan brings a Kinara his family celebrates Kwanzaa they light the candles to symbolize their community. Taylor brings a star from his Christmas tree. He explains that he celebrates Christmas and that the star is a reminder of the North Star the wise men followed to find Jesus. Mako brings a Bodi tree with lights. Mako's her family celebrates Bodi day, the day when the Buddha achieved enlightenment the lights on the tree represent the path to enlightenment. Alex brings a Menorah, Alex's family celebrates Hannukah, and the candles symbolize light's triumph over dark. River brings in a crown made of holly candles sticking out of it. her family celebrates Winter Solstice & the return of the sun. Ms. Dennis says all their celebrations revolve around light and the symbol of the Unitarian Universalist Church is a flaming chalice, each of the children have a light inside of them. River suggests they sing "This little light of mine" for the winter concert. Everyone agrees.

Gathering my courage, I hopped over to her. “Do you want me to help?” I squeaked, my heart racing like a hare. She looked surprised but smiled back at me. “That would be great, Apple!” I felt a thrill inside when she said my name! I helped her reach the branch, and we laughed together as we worked. It was the first time I’d really spoken to her, and it made me realize that talking to new friends wasn’t so scary. Who knew making friends could be so paws-itively delightful? As days went by, Flower and I grew closer. I learned she had a big heart and wanted to help our village. Together, we found ways to scare away the crows with shiny distractions. Talk about a sparkly strategy!

Leo, Maya, and Alex were best friends who loved everything about space. One day, they got the most exciting news: they had been chosen to become junior astronauts and go on a mission to the Moon aboard The Star Voyager! They couldn't wait to start their adventure. At the Space Academy, they trained with Commander Vega, learning how to pilot the spacecraft, put on space suits, and even float in zero gravity. The Moon was their destination, and they were eager to see it up close. On launch day, the trio suited up in their shiny silver space suits and boarded The Star Voyager. As the countdown began—“Ten... nine... eight..."—their excitement grew. "Three... two... one... Blast off!" The rocket roared to life and shot into the sky, taking them on a journey beyond Earth. After a smooth flight, they reached the Moon. The surface was dusty and gray, covered with craters of all sizes. As they landed, Leo, Maya, and Alex couldn’t believe their eyes. The Moon was even more incredible than they had imagined! They put on their helmets and stepped outside. The first thing they noticed was how light they felt. The Moon’s gravity is only about one-sixth of Earth’s, so they could jump really high and far. They laughed as they bounced around, leaving footprints in the Moon dust. As they explored, they learned some amazing facts. The Moon doesn’t have any air, so there’s no wind or weather to change its surface. That’s why the footprints they made would stay there for thousands of years! They also discovered that the Moon has no light of its own—it only shines because it reflects light from the Sun. Leo, Maya, and Alex also visited a huge crater called Tycho. They marveled at the steep walls and rocky surface. Commander Vega explained that the craters were formed by meteoroids crashing into the Moon long ago. They even saw some Moon rocks, which looked different from the rocks on Earth because of the lack of atmosphere.
