John Jr showed Yuēhàn how to look stuff up on the internet. 2. John Jr discovered The Mexican–American War,, was an invasion of Mexico by the United States Army from 1846 to 1848. It followed the 1845 American annexation of Texas, which Mexico still considered its territory because it refused to recognize the Treaties of Velasco, signed by President Antonio López de Santa Anna after he was captured by the Texian Army during the 1836 Texas Revolution. The Republic of Texas was de facto an independent country, but most of its Anglo-American citizens who had moved from the United States to Texas after 1822 wanted to be annexed by the United States. 3. John Jr started to explain to Yuēhàn the key battles of the Mexican American War. Battle of Monterrey The first major battle of the war, which took place in 1846. Mexican forces were able to repel the first few attacks by U.S. forces, but eventually surrendered. Battle of Buena Vista A turning point in the war, as Santa Anna's decision to attack Taylor prevented him from reinforcing Vera Cruz. Battle of Cerro Gordo The First and Second Tennessee Infantry regiments distinguished themselves in this battle, which was the first of a series of American victories that led to the capture of Mexico City. Battle of Chapultepec A decisive battle in 1847, where troops led by Gen. Winfield Scott overwhelmed a group of cadets studying at the military academy in the castle. Battle of Palo Alto The first major engagement of the war, which took place on May 8, 1846. The American army was able to defeat the Mexican army, despite the Mexican army being much larger, due to their superior weapons and training. 4. John Jr and Yuēhàn found out Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo ended the Mexican War and annexed a large amount of territory to California.

After a failed bath—Rosie’s terrified scratches proving her fear—the man carried her to the rescue vet. Humans poked and prodded, but their hands were kind. Medicine tasted bitter, but it brought relief. Back at the house, Rosie was given a warm crate, soft food, and quiet care. Over the weeks, Rosie began to heal. Animals lived in peace and friendship in the The Forest of Justice. One day, arguments and unrest broke out in the forest. An argument erupted between Rabbit Tobi, Bear Bozo, and Owl Belgin. Tobi claimed that Bozo stole his carrots. Bozo said that Belgin was not impartial in providing justice. Little squirrel Sibel, the bravest and fairest hero of the forest, stepped in. Sibel stood among her friends and shouted, "Stop!" "We must all work together and understand what justice is," she said. Sibel took her friends to the Tree of Justice. The Tree of Justice explained, "Justice means treating everyone equally and honestly." Sibel turned to Tobi and Bozo and asked, "Tobi, how do you know that Bozo stole your carrots?" Tobi said his carrots were lost and no one else was big enough to carry them. Bozo stated he did not need carrots and only ate honey. Sibel suggested, "Let's all go to the place where the carrots disappeared and follow the traces." They walked deep into the forest and found small footprints. The tracks led to the mouse family's home. The mouse family was very scared when they saw Sibel and her friends. "It's not our fault; we were just trying to find food for our children," they said. Sibel approached the mouse family with understanding. The mouse family explained they did not know the carrots belonged to Tobi and wanted to find food for their children. With Sibel's guidance, Tobi realized that justice requires understanding the situation of others. Bozo added, "Justice is necessary for everyone to live happily and peacefully." Working Together and Restoring Peace Sibel offered to help the mouse family. They decided to meet everyone's needs by working together. All the animals in the forest decided to help each other and live in justice. Peace in the forest was restored. Sibel and her friends understood the importance of justice. Everyone continued to live peacefully in the Forest of Justice.

Last night it snowed and the sand hills were turned into white. Bunbun, Babu and Gugi built the snowman and were having a snowball fight. Suddenly they have noticed a big gift box.

This makes a volcano!” Vika thought about boats bumping—Splash! She could see it in her mind. “When a volcano erupts, hot lava comes out,” Grandma said. “Smoke, rocks, and ash fly in the air. That is why we must be careful.” Vika looked at the volcano near her village. Sometimes she saw smoke. “When the volcano erupts, the hot gas and lava push through a hole on top. This hole is called a crater,” Grandma explained. Vika listened. Grandma was very good at explaining things! “Did you see a volcano erupt, Grandma?” Vika asked. “Yes,” Grandma said. “When I was little, the volcano near our village erupted.” “What did you do?” Vika asked. “We stayed inside and closed all the windows and doors. Then, our village leader told us to move to a safe place.” Vika imagined Grandma walking to a safe village. She looked at the volcano. It was quiet today, but if it started smoking, she would listen to Grandma!
